BUFFALO, NY - A veteran from Williamsville was at Dog Ears Bookstore in Buffalo Saturday for a book signing.
Former Army Staff Sergeant Timothy Payne was severely injured by an IED in Afghanistan in 2011. After that near-death experience Payne says he wanted to overcome his physical and emotional scars to help inspire others to face any challenges that may come their way.
That's why he wrote the book The Squad Leader's Bargain.
"It's been a crazy journey, and I'm just thankful for going through it, because, as a leader, I have the ability to express all the things I've been through to the men," he said.
Payne is a Purple Heart recipient and an accomplished athlete now in training for the Paralympics.
